Cute Mummy
A round, wrapped mummy character with big friendly eyes, a big smile, and one arm raised in a wave.
About this design
The bandage-wrapped look on this page comes from ancient Egyptian burial customs, where embalmers wrapped a body in dozens of yards of linen strips as part of a careful preservation process. Egyptian priests believed the wrapping protected the body for the afterlife, and they tucked small charms called amulets between the layers for extra protection. The process could take weeks to finish properly, layer by layer, which is part of why the wrapped shape became such a recognizable image once archaeologists began opening tombs centuries later and sharing what they found with the wider world.
Public fascination with Egypt grew sharply after major tomb discoveries in the early 1900s put wrapped mummies on newspaper front pages around the world.
The wrapped-bandage design pairs well with a short talk about ancient history in an age-appropriate, non-scary way.
