Ram Power Wagon Coloring Sheet History & Fun Facts

A Name Dating Back To World War II

The Power Wagon name first appeared in 1945 on a civilian pickup adapted from the Dodge WC-series military truck, making it one of the earliest mass-production 4x4 pickups sold to American buyers. That original Power Wagon stayed in the lineup for decades before the name went quiet.

The Modern Revival Arrived In 2005

Ram brought the Power Wagon badge back for the 2005 model year, built on the Ram 2500 heavy-duty chassis instead of a light truck platform. It became the first Ram or Dodge pickup with factory-locking front and rear differentials working together, a combination that had previously only been available through aftermarket upfitters.

A Winch Built Into The Bumper

Every modern Power Wagon ships with a 12,000-pound Warn winch mounted at the center of the front bumper, ready to pull the truck free without any aftermarket parts. A matching tow hook and skid plates round out the factory recovery gear.

Suspension That Disconnects On Command

The Power Wagon's Articul-Link front suspension can electronically disconnect the front sway bar at the push of a button, letting the front wheels articulate independently over rocks and ruts for far more wheel travel than a standard Ram 2500.

A Taller, Wider Stance Than A Standard 2500

Factory-lifted suspension and 33-inch tires give the Power Wagon roughly 2 inches more ground clearance than a stock Ram 2500, paired with a wider track for extra stability off-road. The look feeds directly into the tall, portal-style stance kids can color on this printable sheet.

Gas Power Only, By Design

Unlike other Ram 2500 trims, the Power Wagon skips the available Cummins diesel and uses a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 rated at 410 horsepower. The gas-only setup keeps the front axle and steering geometry simpler, which helps the front differential lock and disconnecting sway bar work the way off-road engineers intended.

Recovery Gear Over Maximum Towing

A Power Wagon tows less than a standard Ram 2500, capped around 10,000 pounds instead of the 2500's much higher ratings, because its off-road suspension tune trades some load-hauling stiffness for wheel articulation. Ram built it to recover stuck vehicles and cross rough trails, not to pull the biggest trailer on the lot.

Bold Graphics Carry The Name

Modern Power Wagons often wear a large POWER WAGON decal down the side of the bed along with red front tow hooks, callbacks to the utilitarian military look of the original 1945 truck. Those graphics make the Power Wagon easy to spot next to a plainer Ram 2500 in any parking lot or job site.

Crew Cab Only

Ram sells the modern Power Wagon exclusively as a crew cab with a short bed, unlike the standard Ram 2500 lineup, which also offers regular and mega cab body styles with longer beds. That single-configuration approach keeps the Power Wagon focused on trail-ready proportions instead of maximum cargo length, and it matches the short-wheelbase layout most off-road trail systems and campground roads are built to handle.
