Dodge Magnum Coloring Sheet History & Fun Facts

A Wagon Built On A Muscle Car Platform

Dodge introduced the modern Magnum for the 2005 model year, sharing its rear-wheel-drive LX platform with the Dodge Charger sedan and Chrysler 300. That shared underpinning meant the Magnum could be ordered with the same powerful engines as its sedan siblings, unusual for a wagon body style.

A Flat Roof By Design

Chrysler's design team, led by Trevor Creed, kept the Magnum's roofline dead flat from the windshield to the tailgate, giving it a low, wide, shooting-brake stance instead of the rounded minivan-like look most wagons had at the time. That silhouette is what still makes the Magnum easy to spot in traffic today.

An SRT8 Version With A Hemi V8

For 2006 and 2007, Dodge sold a Magnum SRT8 with a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 rated at 425 horsepower, turning a family wagon into one of the quickest wagons sold in America at the time. That performance trim helped the Magnum stand out from ordinary grocery-getter wagons on sale elsewhere.

All-Wheel Drive Was An Option

Buyers who wanted more traction could add all-wheel drive to V6 and V8 Magnum models, a feature that appealed to families in snowy climates who still wanted wagon-style cargo space over a taller, heavier SUV.

A Short Production Run

Dodge built the Magnum for just four model years, from 2005 through 2008, before dropping it in the United States as wagon sales cooled and SUV crossovers took over that space in dealer lots. Despite the short run, it remains one of the most recognizable American wagons of the 2000s.

A Second Life In Europe

After the US version ended, Chrysler kept selling a version of the same wagon in Europe under the 300C Touring name, letting the platform live on for buyers overseas even after American dealers stopped ordering new Magnums.

A Name Borrowed From The Past

Dodge had used the Magnum name once before, on a 1978-1979 personal luxury coupe related to the Chrysler Cordoba. Reviving the name decades later for a completely different body style, a performance wagon, gave Dodge a familiar badge to put on a genuinely new kind of car.

A Favorite With Law Enforcement Fleets

Some police departments ordered V8 Magnum wagons as pursuit and patrol vehicles, valuing the extra cargo room behind the rear seats for equipment compared to a Charger sedan's trunk, while still getting sedan-like acceleration from the shared engine lineup.

Distinctive Wraparound Taillights

The Magnum's rear end used tall, narrow taillights that wrapped up onto the roof pillars, a styling detail that reinforced the flat-roof, upright-hatch look this coloring page captures and helped the wagon stand apart from more rounded competitors on the road.

A Roomy Cargo Floor Behind The Seats

Folding the rear seats flat opened a long, flat cargo floor stretching from the tailgate to the front seatbacks, giving the Magnum more usable space for bikes, luggage, or furniture than a same-era Charger sedan trunk could ever match.

A Favorite Among Custom Car Builders

Because the Magnum shared its chassis and V8 options with the Charger and 300C, aftermarket builders and drag racers took a strong interest in the wagon, swapping in bigger engines and lowered suspensions to turn a family hauler into a sleeper performance car.
