Named for the Founder's Father

Koenigsegg unveiled the Jesko in 2019, naming it after Jesko von Koenigsegg, the father of company founder Christian von Koenigsegg, who supported the small Swedish company through its early struggling years in the 1990s.

That personal naming choice broke from Koenigsegg's usual pattern of technical or Swedish-language model names, marking the Jesko as a tribute car built to honor the family that made the company possible.

A Nine-Speed Multi-Clutch Gearbox

The Jesko uses a transmission Koenigsegg calls the Light Speed Transmission, built from nine forward gears controlled by seven separate wet clutch packs instead of a conventional gear-selector shaft.

That unusual layout lets the gearbox jump directly from any gear to any other gear, skipping the sequential shifting order every other multi-speed car needs, which shaves fractions of a second off gear changes at race pace.

A Small Swedish Factory Building Hypercars

Koenigsegg builds every car by hand at a small factory in Angelholm, Sweden, a facility converted from a former Swedish air force base. Production numbers stay in the dozens per year rather than the thousands larger automakers build.

That low-volume approach lets engineers hand-fit body panels and test unusual mechanical ideas, like the multi-clutch gearbox, that a larger manufacturer building thousands of cars a year would find too costly to risk.

An Engine That Can Run on Multiple Fuels

The Jesko's twin-turbo V8 is flex-fuel capable, meaning it can run on gasoline, E85 ethanol blends, or a mix of both without any modification, and Koenigsegg tunes the engine to make more power on E85 than on pure gasoline.

That flexibility reflects Koenigsegg's long-running interest in alternative fuels, an approach the company has carried across several models since the 2000s rather than treating it as a one-off Jesko feature.

The Absolut Version Built for Top Speed

Alongside the standard Jesko, which is tuned for cornering with its large rear wing, Koenigsegg builds a low-drag variant called the Jesko Absolut with a smoother tail and no big wing, aimed purely at chasing top speed records.

Koenigsegg has projected the Absolut could theoretically exceed 300 mph based on wind tunnel and simulation data, though the company has been careful to note that figure has not been verified in an actual timed run.

Triplex Suspension Borrowed from Racing

The Jesko uses a front and rear triplex suspension system, adding a third damper connected between the two sides of each axle to control body movement during hard acceleration and braking, a setup borrowed from open-wheel racing.

That third damper keeps the car's ride height more stable at extreme speed, which matters directly for the aerodynamics working correctly on the huge rear wing shown in this outline.

A Racing Program Called Koenigsegg Advanced Engineering

Beyond road cars, Koenigsegg's engineering division has supplied components and technology to other automakers and motorsport teams, and the company has used one-make demonstration runs to show off the Jesko's cornering and straight-line performance at events worldwide.

Those demonstrations matter for a company as small as Koenigsegg, since public track outings and record attempts are often the clearest way to prove the Jesko's numbers to skeptics who question performance claims from a low-volume manufacturer.

Carbon Fiber Wheels Cast in One Piece

Koenigsegg offers optional carbon fiber wheels on the Jesko that are molded as a single piece rather than bolted together from separate parts, cutting unsprung weight at each corner so the suspension can react faster over bumps.

Lighter wheels also spin up and slow down more quickly than heavier metal ones, which matters directly for a car chasing both hard acceleration and the huge cornering loads its rear wing and triplex suspension are built to handle.
