An Electric Muscle Car Debut

Dodge unveiled the Charger Daytona concept in 2022 and put the production version on sale for the 2024 model year, making it the brand's first fully electric muscle car. It arrived as a two-door coupe, with a four-door Charger version following later, replacing both the old Charger sedan and the Challenger coupe under one nameplate.

The 400-Volt Banshee Motor System

Dodge calls the Daytona's electric powertrain the Banshee propulsion system. The top Scat Pack trim pairs dual motors with a 400-volt battery pack, and an optional Direct Connection Stage 2 upgrade kit pushes output up to roughly 670 horsepower for a 0-60 mph time near 3.3 seconds.

A Speaker That Sounds Like An Engine

Electric motors run quiet, so Dodge built the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, a tuned speaker and amplifier system mounted where a normal exhaust would sit. It can produce a growl loud enough to match a gas-powered muscle car, reaching sound levels close to 126 decibels at full throttle.

The R-Wing Cooling Spoiler

Look at the rear deck on this coloring page and you can picture the R-Wing, an active rear spoiler with a slot running through the middle. Air passes through that channel to cool the battery and rear motor while also adding downforce at speed, a shape borrowed from open-wheel race car aerodynamics.

Built On A New Global Platform

The Daytona rides on Stellantis' STLA Large platform, an architecture designed from the start to support both electric and gasoline powertrains. That flexibility let Dodge plan a gas-burning six-cylinder Charger variant alongside the electric Daytona for buyers who still want a traditional engine note.

Two Launch Trims

Dodge launched the Daytona in R/T and Scat Pack trims, both borrowing performance names from decades of Dodge muscle car history. The Scat Pack badge dates back to 1968 Super Bee and Road Runner-era Mopar cars, now carried forward on a battery-powered coupe.

A Name From Nascar Racing

The Daytona name traces back to the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, a wild aerodynamic race car built with a pointed nose cone and a tall rear wing to chase 200 mph speeds at NASCAR superspeedway events. Reviving that name on an electric coupe ties the new car to one of Dodge's boldest racing chapters.

A Removable Frunk And Cargo Space

Without a gasoline engine up front, the Daytona has a front trunk, or frunk, for extra storage, plus a hatchback-style rear opening on some configurations for longer cargo. That added practicality is new territory for a nameplate that has always leaned toward raw straight-line performance over daily usefulness.

A Six-Cylinder Sixxpack Sibling

Alongside the electric Daytona, Dodge developed a gas-powered Charger Sixxpack built around a twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, offered in standard and high-output tunes. Sharing the same STLA Large body with the electric coupe let Dodge court both battery-focused buyers and drivers who still want to fill up at a gas station.

Launch Editions And Special Badging

Early Charger Daytona production included limited First Edition and Scat Pack launch trims with unique badging, wheel designs, and interior trim, a tradition Dodge has followed with past halo models to reward the earliest buyers of a reinvented nameplate.
